Two worked examples: Kim Min-su and Yun Su-han
Follow the actual stroke arithmetic, including virtual strokes, in two sample names.
金民秀: 8, 5, and 7 strokes
In the bundled data, 金 has 8 strokes, 民 has 5, and 秀 has 7. The surname total S is 8; the given-name total G is 12; the full character total is 20. A one-character surname contributes one virtual stroke where applicable. A two-character given name contributes none.
The five values for Kim Min-su
Heaven is 8+1=9; Personality is 8+5=13; Growth is 5+7=12. Relationship is 20−13+1=8, and Overall is 20. Their elements in order are Water, Fire, Wood, Metal, and Water. The value 20 does not mean a twenty-point score; it is the character total.
尹秀漢: 4, 7, and 14 strokes
尹 has 4 strokes, 秀 has 7, and 漢 has 14. Heaven is 4+1=5; Personality is 4+7=11; Growth is 7+14=21. Relationship is 25−11+1=15, and Overall is 25. The elements are Earth, Wood, Wood, Earth, and Earth. This example is also useful for seeing how one element can appear in several roles.
Earth can occupy three different scenes
In the second example, Earth occurs in Heaven, Relationship, and Overall. It can become inherited ground, a place made between people, and a foundation built through living. The general element meaning stays consistent while the story changes with the role. Repetition of an element does not prove a personal trait three times.
Edits, single-character given names, and compound surnames
Editing a character count recomputes the affected grids. A surname [7] with a one-character given name [6] produces 8, 13, 7, 2, and 13. A compound surname [9,10] with given name [8] produces 19, 18, 9, 10, and 27. Virtual strokes are used only where the chosen formula calls for them, never in the Overall total.
